Small Kid, Big Stories

Good Morning Balitmore!

November 17, 2009 · 1 Comment

Every new day’s an open door…. my mom kept singing that song, so I sing it now too. We got to go to Baltimore for a day, in the inner harbor. It’s not a far drive at all, and there was some really neat stuff there!

My favorite was a really really big bookstore in an old power plant and was big with fish tanks and a fun kids area! There are a lot of bridges all over too, those were fun to run and jump on, because they moved!

We got to see a really old ship from an old war, the USS Constellation. I played with the steering wheel and cannons. I like the picture where I am shooting Eli’s head. We were just pretending. I love Eli. We heard a cannon shoot and a submarine alarm sound!!! We raced our cars too!

We got to go up in a really old light house. I got a stamp there! My mom had some crab cakes, and it tasted really yummy. I like crab! I don’t like when they pinch though.

I can’t wait to go back there. They  had a really cool water show, where water sprays out of the ground and you can run through it. It was too cold so I have to wait until Spring to do that. My mom can’t wait either because there is a RITA’s right next to it too! And there is a Kids Discovery Museum to visit too next time.

Full Circle

A day after the wedding we went to a funeral. It wasn’t my first funeral, but the first one where I started asking questions. It’s hard trying to understand what it means when someone dies. My mom and dad are trying to explain it to me. All I know is that it’s good because if you know Jesus, you can go be with him in heaven. I keep telling them I really want to be with Jesus, but my mom and dad say there is a LOT I have to do on earth first before then. It’s so confusing.

Aunt Shelby and my dad’s great uncle died. He was in the Air Force so he got to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery. We got to see a really pretty ceremony. They shot guns and had a band and horses and everything! Eli and me got to wear our suits AGAIN! We get them all muddy though. We didn’t do good inside the church again, so my mom took us outside and we saw the band and horses walk up. We got to race our cars too. Eli went poopie outside too, and there were no potties so my mom had to change him on the grass. The army guys on the horses were standing right next to us, and they laughed at us.

Then after the funeral we went to a really really big house in DC, they had really good little donuts. Eli and Me were the only kids, and we made everyone laugh. We asked EVERY person there for a hug. Here are some pictures.

Trains, Planes & Automobiles

November 14, 2009 · 1 Comment

Fall DC 083I really really like anything that can go SUPER FAST! So when Aunt Shelby & Uncle Tanner came to visit, I was super excited to go to the Museum of American History! They had trains, planes and cars all over! We got to even ride on a pretend Metro train! I really liked the GIANT Train like the one in this picture!

That night we got to go to my daddy’s cousin, Amy’s wedding! I got to dress up like a man, and so did Eli! We didn’t do really good sitting in the church, but my mom found the kids room to play in, then we got to go to another place for dinner and we could see ALL the lights in DC and planes landing! Eli and me wanted to dance really bad, but they took a long time to dance so we just drove our cars instead. Here are some pictures. I think Eli and me are SUPER good looking in suits and ties! My mom said we were handsome.

Halloween!

November 10, 2009 · 1 Comment

classI got to dress up for school last week! I rode the Metro in my Spiderman costume and everything. A lot of people I walked by and said “Hi Spiderman!”. That was so cOol.

We had a Halloween party at my school. This is a picture of my class that day. We got to go trick or treating in all the church offices, and even my dad’s! Then my mom and Eli and my dad came to my class to have lunch with all of us. We got pumpkin cupcakes (cupcakes are my favorite EVER), and got to hit a ghost pinata and candy when FLYING everywhere! (oh, I want to ask the girl with the cowgirl hat on, Ella, out on a date, but my mom said I have to get a job first)

Then the next day Aunt Shelby (I call her Aunt Burnie) and Uncle Tanner (I call him Mr. Conductor Dinosaur) came to visit us in DC! That night we got to go near the Capitol and trick or treat and see people dressed up. I wore my evil Spiderman, Venom, costume!

Fall DC 047 Eli was supposed to wear one of the Spiderman costumes but it was too big, so he had to wear our old Zebra costume. We only got ONE piece of candy from that night, I got a lot at school, but no one was handing any candy out! I did get a kiddie keyboard and mouse for our computer though. My mom and dad laughed at that, I was just SO sad I didn’t get MORE candy.

I love Aunt Burnie & Uncle Mr. Conductor Dinosaur… I cannot wait for them to come back soon for Thanksgiving! I ask my mom every day if it’s Thanksgiving yet!

Every Wednesday is my daddy’s day off. We get to go do something fun as a family! I LOVE Wednesdays!

One Wednesday we went to the Smithsonian Institute’s Museum of Natural History. There were so many cOol things there! I can’t wait to go back and look more. There were so many animals. When we walked in the first big room with a dome roof there was a huge elephant! Then we saw the Ocean room. That was my mom’s favorite. It was really neat. There was a giant whale! There were so many rooms with so many different animals. How did God think of all the different ones to make?

We also got to see dinosaur bones! They were really big and scary looking. I like dinosaurs though. T-Rex is my favorite, like Buddy is, on the new tv show I like called Dinosaur Train!

I even gave my new uncle Tanner a new nick name from that show, I call him Mr. Conductor Dinosaur now. :) They came and visited last weekend, I will tell you stories from that soon. But I have a lot to catch up on first.

I got to ride on a Duck Tour in Washington, DC! It was lots of fun! We went for our new pastor’s birthday with a bunch of our new friends and it was the coolest! We got on a boat that had wheels and drove all through the city!

I got to see the Washington Monument, the Capitol, Lincoln Memorial and the Pentagon. We then drove the boat/bus into the water!!! It was awesome. We seriously just drove straight in the water without stopping! We got to go under bridges, then over to Reagan National Airport where we rode through “roaches run”. We didn’t see any roaches though, just turtles. The airplanes took off RIGHT over our heads, it was super duper loud. Eli kept yelling “loud! loud!”.

On our way back to Union Station the driver gave us all Quackers. There were like 30 of us, and we were all Quacking, it was funny. I think I was the loudest. We Quacked the Happy Birthday song! If you go to DC, you should do a Duck Tour, it’s super cool!

I’m a Fireman!

I got to be a Firman for a day! My mom took Eli and me to a fire station one day and they had so much cool stuff for us to do! I got to shoot a firehose, learn how to stop drop and roll (and I won a fireman hat!) and dress up like a fireman. Then we got to see where the firemen eat food and sleep and ride in a real firetruck!!! They even turned the loud sirens and lights on for me!

I sat in the drivers seat and pushed on the brake and the firetruck rolled! All the firemen jumped up and ran to me, I got scared, but then we all started laughing! I want to be a fireman! They let me take home some really cool toys too, and my mom got a new coffee mug, she was happy.

But I wanted to Talk to Abraham Lincoln!

October 19, 2009 · 4 Comments

I got to ride the METRO train to the monuments in Washington, DC last week! It was so much fun. We walked to the Metro station up the street from our house and rode on an escalator and got to watch the Metro drive up really fast! Eli and I LOVED it. It rode really super fast, like 100!

Oct 09 047

Then we went under ground and got to ride the escalator up above ground. When we came out we were at the bottom of the SUPER tall Washington Monument! Every time we drive around DC I point out the Capitol and Washington Monument to my mom. They are really need buildings.

We didn’t get to ride the elevator up in the Washington Monument this time, but when we have friends or family come visit my mom and dad said we get to ride up to the top and look out! I am really exciting!

Oct 09 051Oct 09 050

Then my dad wanted to go touch the tall Washington Monument so we walked up there then my mom started laughing at us so hard because she said it looked like we were going to go to the bathroom on it.

Oct 09 053

It was really cold out this day, and we went walking all the way to the Lincoln Memorial. I liked that building. I saw the picture of it on a penny and paper money! I was so exciting to see Abraham Lincoln and my mom said it was a big huge statue. I didn’t know what that was, I thought the old President was in there to talk to. I really wanted to talk to Abraham Lincoln. But looking at his statue was ok.

Oct 09 061Oct 09 062

My mom told me that is where Martin Luther King Jr. made a loud speech. So I tried too.

I want to go back and look around there some more. Eli and me had so much fun just running on the grass. My mom said it was called the Mall, but there weren’t any stores. I really like the cold!

The Farm was So COol!

October 17, 2009 · 3 Comments

We got to go to a FARM last week! We had so much fun and we went with some new friends! They gave us free pumpkins for going to the farm. I got to feed some goats and ride on big HUGE giant slides with daddy and run around sword fighting with some of our new friends with corn husks. I really liked to pick off the corn pieces and throw them at people. Our new pastor taught me that. He was funny, and his kids are really nice to me and rode slides with me.

I even learned how to roll down big hills! I got to pet a cow and saw a GIANT pig that had a lot of little babies too. It was cold out side, but they gave us apple cider too! It is called Cox Farms, and it was a super lot of fun! We even went in a corn-maze. When we took a hay ride I saw a lot of random things like Dora the Explorer, Winnie the Pooh, scary monsters and Aliens! Then we got stuck in the mud and a farmer with a huge head came and pulled us out. We went under a bridge and a troll let us through after singing songs.

The Farm was so COol! Here are some pictures!

We Made It to Washington DC!

October 8, 2009 · 1 Comment

Washington-DC It felt like it took FOREEVVVVEEERRR to get here, but we finally did! It was the super longest drive ever. We drove to Charleston the first day of our drive, and that took 10 hours because my dad drove a big huge yellow truck and we had to follow it, and I had to keep going to the bathroom. One time I told my mom “just let me go in the grass next to the road like Puppy does!” when I had to go #2 reeeeeeeally bad. She just laughed at me.

The next day we drove for 12 whole hours! It was so super long. Eli and me didn’t even go to sleep at all so we could “help mommy stay awake”. I think our screaming did that for her. We got to watch a lot of movies though! We watched CARS 1.5 times, Toy Story 2- 2 times, the Incredibles 1 time, the Rescurers 1 time and a Backyardagains DVD 1 time aaaaaaaaaaand Lion King 1 time! I really had fun doing that those 2 days.

We finally got to Washington DC, it was 10 o’clock at night and the big buildings were all lit up! I like the Capitol and Washington Monument. I keep seeing them! I can’t wait for Monday, we get to ride the Metro Train to the monuments and see them up close and then Daddy is taking me to see Toy Story 1 & 2 in 3D at the big movies!!! That will be the funnest!

So far I like Washington DC. I see a lot of Army helicopters and police men. They are nice. I am glad I have Eli to play with. I can’t wait to make some new friends too!

Oh, and we drove by the White House! I saw that house on money! My mom told me that President Obama there has 2 little girls. I asked her if I could go play with them in that really big house, but she said they are protected by Army men and Secret Service men, that sounds cool. I really want to be their friend!
